Isaac's Wells

Good Morning Brethren, And a Good morning it is. I pray that this note finds you coming to Him in worship, adoring Him for who He is and all that He has done for weak human beings like us. This morning I am reflecting on the ways the Lord has moved in years past. His immeasurable goodness has kept our land and people in His care. He has touched our soil with some many great men and women of God and has marked it for a great coming revival. We are incredibly blessed to be a live in this time of the church. Our God and King is about to move. We will see greater things then those who have gone before us in the faith. I have been looking at the Life of Isaac. I believe the Lord would have us pray for ourselves and the church from one of His experiences.

Genesis 26 gives us the account:

Isaac slid into many of the same sins his father did including leaving Canaan during the famine when God told him not to. When He finally abandoned his false position, the blessing of God rested upon him in a marked abundant way until his wealth was overwhelming. The Philistines envied Him so they decided to fill in the wells that Abraham dug with dirt. In those days, to fill in a well was an act of war. They refused the water (Christ) themselves and decided to choke out the blessing for anyone else. In OT typology, the Philistines represent unregenerate people who occupy ground that belongs to the Saints of God. They represent those unbelievers who have taken up positions in the church, there to remain as liberals holding on to things to which they have no right and opposing the true saints of God.

Vs. 18 tells us that Isaac boldly dug again the wells of water which his father had dug and named them with the same names. This automatically gave him property rights in that area because in essence, he was asserting his own title to those God lands his father owned. He was claiming his inheritance so to speak. Spiritually, Isaac actions symbolized the rediscovery of the truth of Christ that has been covered up by tradition, false and liberal teaching that has crept into the church. They dig in the valley and found a well of flowing water. That's when the contention begins as to whose well it was going to be. The Philistines did not want the living water so why should they care about it? All they really cared about was that they would loose control.

When God's water comes forth, the demonic stronghold of tradition is shook. The Philistines were moved with envy. They opposed and resisted what the man of God was doing in the land. Isaac doesn't quit there. Don’t you love it? I love it when a man or woman of God refuses to quit. Isaac and his servants did not quit. They re-dig another well. There is quarreling over this one as well. Isaac moves away because he is basically being chased out of the circles where this tradition is having its way. I believe the move was God ordained. He digs another well away from these traditionalist and names it Rahoboth, the Lord made room for us.

Two things that made their adversary back off and leave them be:

1-Persistance

2- and moving out of the circle where the traditionalist were in control.

The Philistines probably thought; eventually they would take this well away from Isaac too, but Isaac's persistence caused them to backed off. The Lord visits Isaac and the Lord refreshes His promise to him and tells him not to fear. Isaac immediately builds a place to worship the Lord. This time the traditionalist visit him because they are overwhelmed at the way God is moving in Isaac’s life and they want peace with him. Now the fear is on the other foot. Here comes the part I really like. Isaac servants don't stop digging although the Lord made room for them with the last well they dug. They are hungry for the water to flow abundantly in the land. I imagine them saying, "there must be more" and keep right on digging. Wee Ha! They strike water and guess what? It is a brand new well, all their own. Yes! Yes! Oh, I can keep going on> This account has been leaping off the pages. Nevertheless, let's stop here and come into agreement together concerning a few things.

Pray:

1- as leaders and saints re-dig the wells where they live and we are faced with the traditionalist and liberals, that we wouldn't stop and shrink back with fear. God is with us!

2- that we would continue to worship the lord for what He is doing even in the midst of the opposing forces.

3- believe that He is making room for us to establish His Kingdom again in our land.

4- Find those with like vision to pray with you and don't be concerned with just a few, cuz God can save by many or by few. He is God. He just looks for a few willing, yielded, humble vessels to stand in the gap for the land. A few saints have sparked many great revivals counting the cost and surrendering themselves to Jesus in prayer.

5- The Blessing is, that once the leaders dig the well that makes room for the living water to flow, that the saints will keep right on digging. Pray that it doesn't stop at one well but that as He is making room for us, the saints become so hungry they cry for more and He continues to allow us to open our own wells right in our own neighborhoods.

I love you and covet your prayers for my family and me. God is moving to reposition us for this next season in His grace.

Bless you,

Rosey Andrews
